Babysitting Overload

I had a non-stop day today, going from job to job from 10am until 10pm. Needless to say I'm exhausted and found myself utterly starving a few times today. I actually held off eating my lunch for an hour even though I was starving just so I could take a picture of it! haha.

Breakfast: Greek yogurt with cereal and blueberries

I should mention that the Greek yogurt I eat is the Fage 0% kind. We go through 2 huge Costco containers a week at my house! Today we were running out of cheerios so I combined the last bit with a few cocoa puffs. To top it all off I put some frozen blueberries in the mix. Great and quick breakfast!

Snack 1: Vitamin water Revive

I had to make a pit stop for gas on the way to my afternoon babysitting job across town so I picked this up to help keep me going. It tasted like Capri Sun which is one of the few sweet things that I do not care for. It was a lifesaver though since I was holding off on lunch until I got to the job so I could photograph my lunch!

Lunch: Dr. Praeger's veggie burger in an English muffin

I snagged a moment to scarf down my lunch while the kids ate their snack. The veggie burger is actually way too big to fit into an English muffin so I break it in half and eat the rest of the burger on the side.

Snack 2: Nature Valley Oats 'n Chocolate granola bar and string cheese

I was starving by the time I got to my last babysitting job of the day (4pm) so I ate the granola bar I had in my bag. The kids were jealous of my chocolate treat so I gave a few nibbles away.

I also grabbed a string cheese from the family's fridge (I'm allowed I swear!). This was very tasty and I felt so much better after eating it! I might have to get some of my own...

Dinner: Turkey with gravy, apples, and baby carrots

Since I babysit while these kids eat dinner, I grabbed a small plate of what they were having. I've never been a fan of gravy but it tasted fine. I didn't end up eating any rice even though it's pictured there. I was really impressed with this Fuji apple- sso sweet! I've been buying Gala but they are nowhere near this sweet!

Snack 3: Double chocolate oats with French vanilla coffee

I was exhausted by the time I got home and wanted something warm to curl up with. I couldn't think of anything better than yesterday's concoction! Yesterday's picture was definitely more appetizing though...

Used up the last bit of decaf coffee!

Snack 4: English muffin with cheese and chocolate graham crackers

These came out a bit too toasted, but I love my carbon anyway. I topped them with a laughing cow cheese wedge and a slice of cheddar cheese.

I finished the night off with some chocolate graham crackers. Total chocolate treat count of the day: 4.

I'm off to bed!

Quiet Sunday

Holed up in the house today with lots of research to do today. Today was full of lots of mini meals/snacks and maybe a few too many episodes of Buffy...

Breakfast: Eggs over easy with blackberry jam on an English muffin

This was the best luck cooking eggs that I've had in awhile! I tried out my dad's seedless blackberry jam on a toasted English muffin and it did not disappoint. Of course, I had a big cup of French Vanilla coffee to wash it all down. I love taking extra time to make a great breakfast on slow Sunday mornings!

Snack 1: Greek yogurt topped with cheerios and frozen blueberries and
red bean mochi

I found myself hungry a few hours after breakfast so I made a quick yogurt snack topped with some truvia (product plug?). This always satisfies my hunger because of ALL that protein!

I had the other red bean mochi left over from the pack I bought yesterday. This was an attempt to picture the delicious lightly sweet red bean center but turned out a bit blurrier than I intended.

Lunch: Lean Cuisine

Being a processed foods queen I resorted to a Lean Cuisine meal after deciding I was feeling way too lazy to cook. I love these meals mainly because they are pre-portioned and tend to have a great sauce on top. This one was good, despite how it looks.

Snack 2: Egg mug classic

I found this recipe on Hungry Girl and had to try it. It was so simple! All I did was put in 1/3 cup of egg whites and a laughing cow cheese wedge, and then pop it in the microwave. What an easy way to make a high protein snack. I also added some chopped up baby salad greens to the mix!

Dinner?: Double Chocolate Oatmeal

The night was spent mainly doing research sitting in front of the computer so I didn't really have a dinner. I had the idea to drop my extra dark Lindt chocolate square into my oatmeal. It. was. awesome.

In the Mix:
  • 1/2 c. of oats
  • 1 tsp of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • cinnamon
  • water
  • 1 square of Lindt 85% cacao square
Snack 3: Hummus with tortilla chips

I finished off the night with a Sabra hummus snack pack and some chips. Love this hummus!

It was nice to get to relax today and get some much needed work done. I'm really enjoying taking pictures of everything, though it is sometimes hard to stop myself from eating it beforehand. My main issue with pictures seems to be lighting. Natural light is the best but what's a girl to do when it's 1am? I'll just have to keep playing with it!

Movie Marathon

Hi, I'm a 22 year old looking to make my twenty third year a great one by adopting healthier habits! This post is my first-documenting what I ate and did! Enjoy! Also, please forgive the poor lighting and interesting layout-I'm still learning how to work my camera and how I want this site to look. Today was super busy and full of not-so-great choices but I kept portions small and had a blast. So glad it's Sunday tomorrow so I can sleep in!

Breakfast: Maple and Cinnamon French Toast a la hungry girl
with French vanilla coffee

I just switched the vanilla extract out for maple extract and used a hearty slice of Ezekial toast. I have very little experience in the kitchen (which I'm in the process of remedying) so I was very proud of my French toast creation!

2nd Breakfast: 1 red bean mochi from Mozart Bakery with a coffee

I met up with a friend and we decided to go to one of the local Korean cafes as a special treat. I almost always get these when I go to Mozarts! They are so soft and chewy though a bit hard to swallow in mid conversation. My friend got what we thought was a donut but was actually a dumpling with cabbage goodness inside. Delicious but a bit unexpected!

Lunch?: Nature Valley Oats 'n Dark Chocolate granola bar and
a Chewy Cocoa granola bar.

I was running late to meet up with another friend to see Toy Story 3 and didn't have time to run back home for a proper lunch. Instead, I salvaged what I could from what I found in the car. These Nature Valley bars are great but are very crumbly so they are hard to eat in the car.

Snack: Popcorn and another French Vanilla Coffee

Came home to Mom making popcorn so I grabbed a bowl and watched the epic end to the Federer vs. Djokovic game. So sad Federer lost but I cannot wait to see Djokovic play against Nadal.
Dinner: Pizza (not pictured) and M&Ms

I wasn't home long before I went back to the dollar theatre to watch Knight and Day! But first, I stopped by my friend's house to eat 2 small slices of pepperoni pizza. Wow do I need veggies at this point! We then stopped at Quicktrip on the way to the movies to stock up on some cheap snacks. I, of course, got M&Ms but the pre-portioned treat was perfect! Yummy.

Dinner 2?: Leftovers on baby salad greens with a piece of dark chocolate

By the time I got home (12am) I was starving and in need of something remotely healthy. I cut up 2 fish sticks left over from my family's dinner, added some sweet corn and garbanzo beans, and put it all on a bed of lettuce. My choice of dressing was ketchup of course, because one can't eat fish sticks without it!

And I yet again had more chocolate to end my crazy food day. 4 chocolate treats in all today. Maybe I overdid it...

Some things about me...
  • I don't know how to cook (yet).
  • I do NOT like fruits (texture bugs me) so I am to add it in where I won't mind it so much.
  • I am a prepackaged foods girl. If it comes in a package, I probably eat it. I want to change this and get more comfortable eating less processed foods through cooking!
  • I tend to eat the same thing every day! I live at home and get by with what my parents chose. So pretty much my diet is yogurt, cereal, peanut butter, and frozen diners. Sad, no?! This is one reason for starting this blog! I figure I'll be more motivated to change it up a bit just so I don't bore people who stop by!
  • I'm a coffee addict. I've recently (read: 2 weeks ago) switched to decaf though so I'd don't feel too bad when I overindulge.
  • Oh yea, I love sweets, especially chocolate. :)
